9th Annual Square Dance Gratitude
We are so thankful to be blessed with such a wonderful community here in Western North Carolina!
Our 9th Annual Square Dance, Potluck and Fundraiser held May 20th of 2017 was such a wonderful show of compassion. As a nonprofit community and giving garden, we wouldn’t be able to do this work without each and every one of you. And unfortunately, there’s a greater need as more and more people find themselves in situations where they’re unable to feed themselves and their families. NPR recently reported that “One in eight Americans — 42 million people — still struggle to get enough to eat. And while that number has been going down recently, hunger appears to be getting worse in some economically distressed areas, especially in rural communities.” That is why we began growing on this small plot of land in Fairview, NC nine seasons ago. In addition to helping those during difficult times, we also want to be a source of education and inspiration to foster personal growth and community development, because like a plant no one can grow without a warm and inviting environment.
Our annual square dance, potluck and fundraiser is one way we’re able to raise the funds to support our few staff and the necessary resources to provide fresh, organic produce to those in need.

If you weren’t able to attend and would like to make a donation, we graciously accept monetary donations or support in the garden with needed projects and resources.
You can make an online monetary donation HERE.
We could also use help with the following projects:
1. Someone to build and install bluebird houses.
2. Someone to put our purple martin house on a tall pole (any bird folk out there who can help?)
3. Someone to build and install a new wooden fence around the children’s garden.
4. Someone into shade ornamentals who can donate and/or beautify a space under our hickory tree so we don’t have to continue to mow there.
There’s more but you get the idea. Your help on any of these quick projects would help so much!
